Jonathan Freedman serves as the Honorary Consul for
Ukraine in
Utah. The married father of two is an established businessman in
Utah and is also an avid supporter of the arts. Freedman received a Bachelor’s degree in Russian Language and Studies from
BrighamYoungUniversity and was also named as their Entrepreneur of the Year in 1998. In 2009 he was the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Utah/Idaho region and was named in Utah Business Magazine’s “40 Under 40,” highlighting the top 40 business leaders under 40. Freedman is currently a board member at the
SaltLakeArtsCenter, a committee member on the Salt Lake County Arts Collection Committee and serves as Chair for the Young Benefactors Executive Committee, Utah Musem of Fine Arts. In addition to his many contributions to the city of
SaltLake, he is also the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of DownEast Outfitters, Inc. DownEast Outfitters specializes in selling off-price and private label clothing and furniture in the west. His company contributes to the local economy by employing over 600 people operating in 46 retail locations.
Freedman’s love of
Ukraine stems from a two-year LDS mission served in
Donetsk and in 2008 he was named Honorary Consul for
Ukraine in
Utah by His Excellency, Ambassador Oleh Shamshur. The Ukrainian Consulate office in
Utah fosters trade between
Utah and
Ukraine, hosts visiting Ambassadors and Consul Generals and deals with passports and other consular issues.
