UCC had the opportunity to hear from Matthew Ball, who is the Director of Communications (over the North America West Area) for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he presented about "Building Diplomatic Bridges with Unexpected Tools/Resources." He touched on the importance of diplomatic networking and how it is not just about doing business, but more so about building friendships and relationships. UCC members sat down with @slcpd Police Chief Mike Brown during our monthly breakfast meeting. We learned about the history of the SLC PD (one of the oldest police departments in the country!) and we discussed how to build a strong relationship between consuls and law enforcement. From Chief Brown: "I had a great meeting with @utahconsuls this morning with representatives from Peru, Mexico, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Latvia, and Austria. I’m looking forward to continuing with our great working relationship, building trust in our community together." |
Members of the UCC met with the Director General of the The Consular Corps College to discuss the importance of supporting well-trained and well-informed consuls. The Consular Corps College (CCC) is a national non-profit with the mission to improve the ability of both career and honorary consuls to effectively perform their duties. The CCC aims to promote communication and professional exchange between consuls, provide training for best consul practices, and educate communities about the roles and importance of consular functions.
